Our Vision

Something New, Something Different

That's Hills View -- New, Different, Simple

The new is only in the way church is done. It's simple. Actually, it is old. It's the way Jesus did it - relaxed atmosphere, relevent teaching, time spent in prayer. We at Hills View envision a church that keeps things simple. No tradition, no formality - only simple truth from God's Word made relevent for our lives.

DIfferent? Yes we tend to be different. We have a coffee house feel about us, from sitting around the tables for our worship time to our relaxed dress. You won't see anyone but plain, everyday people meeting together to praise our God and find out more about Him.

We use many modern-day aids in our worship. You won't find song books to wade through. We don't even provide Bibles for our worshipers. We rely on modern technology to help us with that. Everything is projected on the screen. (It is helpful to bring your own Bible for reference)

The music we sing is what would be classified as Contemporary Christian. It is upbeat, exciting, and always pointing to God. The worship team leads with guitars, keyboards, percussion, and other instruments.

Our vision is to bring the unchanging Word of God, as laid out in the Bible, to the Piedmont Valley and beyond. We strive to do this in a way that brings people into a closer relationship with God through His Son, Jesus. It really is as simple as that - "It's all about Jesus". We invite you to join us on this adventure.

Our Core Values

We are a body of believers led by God's Word found in the Bible and exhibited by our core values as follows:

  • Centrality of God's Word

Scripture is complete, inspired by God without error and is the foundation for all teaching, preaching and living. 2 Timothy 3:16

  • Making Disciples

We recognize the importance of teaching and equipping believers for the work of service, the building of the body of Christ, and to proclaim the name of Christ to all the world. Matthew 28:19-10; Mark 16:15-16; Ephesians 1:16-19

  • Passionate Prayer

Lift all things to Christ in personal, persistent, and passionate prayer, relying on Him to provide all resources, wisdom, direction, and knowledge of God. Matthew 6:33; 1 Thessalonians 5:17-18; Ephesians 1:16-19

  • Freedom in Christ

We value the freedom God has given us through Christ by loving others as ourselves and bearing one another's burdens in a spirit of grace and gentleness, while not compelling others to a form of legalism. This freedom is not a covering of evil, but is to be used to glorify God, knowing that each individual is accountable for himself to God. 1 Peter 2:16-17; Galatians 3:11, 6:1-5; Romans 14:12-14

  • Nurturing Relationships

Respecting each individual's uniqueness and spiritual gifts, providing an environment for growth, love, kindness, compassion, and unity. 1 Peter 1:22-23; Mark 12:31
